Manage Your Gallery
Color Evolver service will save a list of your image files on its server. You can manage them from My Gallery page. You can come to My Gallery page by clicking "My Gallery" button on the tool bar above the image window.
On this page, there will be a list of your uploaded image files. As guest, you will see a list of image files that are saved on our server as samples. You can try or play Color Evolver over any of these sample image files by clicking related Start link.
As member or subscriber, you will see your own image files were listed here. After logging or registering and coming here for first time, your gallery might be empty. You have to upload images onto server.  Each image file takes up a row. In each row, thumbnail, name, extension, and description of image file were displayed to the left side. Then followed three links: Delete, Describe, and Start. - Click Delete, you will be directed to another page to confirm to delete this image file.
- Click Describe, you will be directed to another page to input new description to the image file.
- Click Start, you will start the Color Evolver flash application over the image file.
* Description of image file can only contain letter, space, and digit and can be up to 250 characters. For security reason, other characters are not allowed. |
Upload Image onto Server
As a Flash application, Color Evolver can not read or write local file on your computer.
Before you use it over an image file, you have to upload the
image onto our web server. Upload Image is the page you do uploading.
You can come to Upload Image page by clicking "Upload Image" button on the tool bar above the image window.
- Click Browse button. A file dialog will pop up.
- Locate the image file on your local computer
- Add description to the image file.
- Click "Upload Image File" button and wait.
- Message will come in the upper part to tell you if the image file has been saved on the server.

You could not upload image file of the same name twice.
As a guest, you cannot come to this page to upload image file.
As a member, you can upload image file of size below 200KB.
As a subscriber, you can upload image file of size smaller than 2MB.
Please note that a member is not a subscriber yet before subscribing the service by
paying subscription fee.

| Start Color Evolver
You can start Color Evolver flash application from My Gallery page for an image file. In the row showing the image file, simply click the link 'Start' at the right.

You need come to My Gallery page to start the application.
You can always start Color Evolver flash application no matter you are guest, member or subscriber.

| Define Area You can define and manage a list of areas on the image from Area tab. - Enter Area tab page, if you were not there, by clicking Area tab;

- Click <Click Points to Add Area> button, Color Evolver will ask name for the new area through a pop up dialog;
|  | - Click points one after one in the image window until they have surrounded the desired area on the image;
|  | - Click Close button to finish the new area Or click Cancel to quit New Area mode without anything changed.
|  | | | Each time you click a new point, an edge will be created from the last point. Once you click Close button, an edge from the last point to the first point will be created. Color Evolver has no limit imposed on the shape of the areas as long as none of its edges intersected together. You can have unlimited number of points to define an area. In the period from the moment you clicked New Area button until you clicked Close button, Color Evolver is said entered New Area Mode, that is, it will interpret your mouse operations as adding new points to the new area only. You can still click Shift, Select, and Zoom button on the tool bar above the image window to enter a navigation mode, in which you can navigate the image window to choose more accurate points. You must re-click these navigation buttons to exit from navigation modes back to the New Area Mode to carry on or finish the definition for the new area. With help of the navigation modes, you can even include into or exclude a particular pixel from the new area. * Area name must be unique in the area list. * Area name must be less than 30 characters and contains letter, digit, space,' _', or '-' only. | | | Define Color You can define and manage a list of colors to paint areas from Color tab. - Enter Color tab page, if you were not there, by clicking Color tab;
* Color name must be unique in the color list. * Color name must be less than 30 characters and contains letter, digit, space,' _', or '-' only. | | Paint an Area After defined them, you can paint areas with your colors. - Enter Color tab page, if you were not there, by clicking Color tab;
- Select a color from the color list by clicking it. The color will be loaded into the color editor in the middle part;
- Click <Paint Areas with a Click> button to enter "Paint Area Mode";
- Click the areas one by one in the image window. All the clicked areas will be painted with the selected color.
|  | * Clicking an Area means to click at a point of the area or on one of its edge. | | Modify Area Color Evolver allows you modifying areas by moving points or adding more points on existing edges. - Enter Area tab page, if you were not there, by clicking Area tab;
- Click <Modify Areas by Drag/Drop> button to enter Modify Area Mode;
- To modify a point of an area, simply drag that point to new location. The two edges adjacent to this point will be modified simultaneously.
|  | - To add new point, start dragging on an edge, a new point will be inserted on the edge, and drag the new point to proper location.
|  | You cannot delete existing points, nor edges. You can still click Shift, Select, and Zoom button on the tool bar above the image window to enter a navigation mode, in which you can navigate the image window for better display of the image part you are interested in. You must re-click these navigation buttons to exit from navigation modes back to Modify Area Mode to do more modifications on any areas. | | Modify Color Color Evolver allows you modifying colors by giving different value to color's components from Color Editor in Color tab. - Enter Color tab page, if you were not there, by clicking Color tab;
- Select the color from the color list. The color will loaded into the color editor in the middle. Color Editor has three tab pages to modify a color: Click, Inc/Dec, and Integer;
- In Click Tab Page:
Click a point in Hue Saturation Image to set new hue and saturation value for the color. Click a point in Brightness Image to set new brightness value for the color. |  | - In Inc/Dec Tab Page:
The six components: Hue, Saturation, Brightness, Red, Green and Blue, were displayed separately. Each with an up arrow and down arrow. You can click the arrow to increment or decrement the value for components. You can also type in new value for the component. If you type in invalid value for the color or its components, the value will be ignored. |  | - In Integer Tab Page:
The decimal and hex integer values of the selected color have been displayed out. You can type in new value to change the color. You have to press enter key after typing in the new value. If you type in invalid value for the color or its components, the value will be ignored. |  | Under the three tab pages, there is an image called as Current Color Bar, which is always showing the current color. | Re-Paint an Area Once area or color was modified, you can paint the area with the color as usual. By clicking <Paint Areas with a Click>, you can always paint any areas with any colors for any times. If an area was painted for multiple times with different colors, only the last color takes effect on the result image. But if you like to test many possible colors or modified color would be used for many areas, you might need a quick way to do the re-paint.
| The way is clicking <Re-do its Painted Areas> button. Once you clicked this button, all areas that have been painted with the selected color will be repainted with its new value all together. This will enable you conveniently to try many choices of a color on many areas. |  | | Restore Area Everyone made mistakes. Once you painted an area in wrong color, Color Evolver allows you restoring the area back to its original color. You can also restore all painted areas with a single click.
Restore an Area: - Enter Area tab page, if you are not there, by clicking Area tab;
- Click <Restore Areas> button to go into "Restore Area Mode";
- Click the area in the image window. The clicked area will be restored;
- Click other areas that you want to restore.
* Clicking an Area means to click at a point of the area or on one of its edge. |  | Restore the whole image: - Enter Area tab page, if you are not there, by clicking Area tab;
- Click <Restore All Areas> button.
- Color Evolver will ask you to confirm your are going to do that with a pop up dialog. If you click <yes> button, all the areas that have been painted before will be restored. Otherwise, if you click <no> button, nothing will be done on the image.
